The ebb and flow system is constructed on natural soil. A formation level is created on the aforementioned area. This is set out with a foil. A drainage pipe system is set up on the foil for connection to the regulating reservoir outside of the riding surface. A top layer of approximately 30 cm of washed sand is placed on top of this drainage system and banked-up with water. This gives the surface its consistency. The surface is given its constant basic moisture and its elasticity by the capillary effect of the sand. The sand at the very top of the top layer draws moisture from the lower layer of sand into the top layer. The constant basic moisture in the top layer is regulated by a pressure sensor in the regulating reservoir. If the moisture content in the top layer drops or increases due to humidification or rain, the water level which you stipulate, is automatically restored. The quality of the riding surface can be fashioned individually. The higher the level of moisture under the top layer, the harder the riding surface. This way you can adapt to the respective requirements; providing a harder surface for show jumpers and carriage drivers and a more pliable surface for dressage riders. The system works identically for both outdoor and indoor surfaces: For outdoors surfaces, the system also features a drainage and watering function for the riding surface, and for indoor surfaces, a watering function.
